Blackadder on the case

with one comment

twitter, @weinsteinlinder, 'I think HS2 releases capacity for an extra 8 trains an hour on the WMCL, 4 on the MML and 4 on the ECML. But before I qualify that to “HS2 will release” I want to check and double check our working so that it’s Joe-proof. Thanks for your ongoing challenge Joe. You’re a big help.'

  1. The WCML has off peak trains per hour to Glasgow, Chester, Manchesterx3, Liverpool and Birmingham x 3, his = 9. Of these the Chester non- electric service will remain on the WCM plus, according to WM 30 year rail plan, 3 to Coventry, then 5 paths are saved. The MML could lose the fast London-Derby – Sheffield, but here will still have to fasts to both Nottingham and Derby. so only one path saved. As for the ECML, I wonder if it will decided to upgrade rather than use HS2 for Newcastle services. Is this analysis reasonably accurate?
