Could railway overhead line equipment ‘reach 5,000 degrees centigrade’?

with one comment

Electrified overhead line equipment can reach 5,000 degrees centigrade – over three times the temperature needed to melt steel, according to Network Rail’s EGIP twitter.

Wouldn’t the overhead lines melt, before they reached 5000 celsius?
