At the opening of the Midland Metro extension to Stephenson Street on 30 May, Centro chief James Aspinall told ITV Central News that trams will bring over three million extra people into the city and £50 billion of benefits to the region.

  2. ‘Interesting’ that the terminating stop of the tram in Birmingham, intended to achieve ease of interchange with Network Rail, is not called Birmingham New Street. Now comes news that the new Snow Hill stop, inconvenient through design from the railway station, is to be renamed. Also we still cannot buy a ticket from (say) Coventry to West Bromwich (or vice versa)
