Prestigious and unknown

The Curzon HS2 Masterplan, which was produced in-house by Birmingham City Council’s planning and regeneration department, has won the prestigious strategic planning award at the inaugural Planning Awards 2014, the Birmingham Post revealed.

[…] Judges praised the “ambitious and highly strategic” approach for the plan, which included extending the Midland Metro, which will pass through Curzon Street HS2 Station, and a park on top of the 1,100-yard-long Duddeston Viaduct.

Surely, for awards to have become ‘prestigious’, they must have built up a degree of renown, with a history of impressive entries and judges. Sadly, the story provided no clues on who set up the Planning Awards, who the judges were, or who the other nominees were.
