Andrew Adonis lets the plane take the strain from Glasgow to London

Glasgow journey times (HS2 Ltd)If tens of billions of pounds were spent on HS2, things would be different. Because Glasgow conference attendees could travel by train and get to London all of, er, 30 minutes quicker than in 2014.

Apart from the Scotrail sleeper, the last London train (Mon-Fri) currently leaves Glasgow at 18:40. It’s unclear as to why there isn’t a later train, because local public transport from Euston operates after midnight.
