The government announcement about the feasibility study into extending Crossrail 1 to Hertfordshire referenced how it “would boost ambitious plans to redevelop Euston station for HS2”. Until now, the coalition has shown no interest in Crossrail-to-WCML, so in the absence of a need for HS2 Euston disruption mitigation, it seems unlikely that there would be any feasibility study.

But how much HS2 construction mitigation could the scheme provide?

David Higgins HS2 Plus report, March 2014

Work at Euston is supposed to start in mid 2017 and HS2 is supposed to be operational in ‘December 2026’

The first Crossrail services through central London 'will start in late 2018' and the 'total funding envelope available is £14.8bn'

More importantly: when is the announcement that HS2 phase one will not be ready to open in 2026, going to be made? And when is the announcement that the Y network cannot be built for “£50 billion”, going to be made?
