HS2 is for connecting Liverpool to Hull

‘Connected Cities’ (Lexington PR) has uploaded a 30-second ‘interview’ with Mike Blackburn, chairman of the Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership, in which he put forward the claim that HS2 is not just about connecting the North to London, but also about connecting Liverpool to Hull.

  1. Well, here’s one alternative to HS2 that would, from the outset, fast-connect the city centres of Manchester and Leeds. In doing so it would also join the Lancs rail network east of Liverpool to the Yorks rail network west of Hull, to give us an east-west Northern Cities Crossrail system:

    But, after watching the clap-hands contributions to the Commons HS2 debate eight days ago, we shouldn’t be too surprised at what local representatives say about it.
