Spinkansen ‘to tap Shinkansen expertise’

East Japan Railway Company 'pinocchio' Shinkansen

Japan International Consultants for Transportation [‘JICT’] has a contract to provide technical consultancy to HS2 Ltd, the Railway Gazette reported on 3 April 2014.

[RG] The contract with an undisclosed value began on January 31 and runs for four months to May 31.

At the time of writing there is no mention of the contract on HS2 Ltd’s website, and why it has been kept under wraps for three months, has not been explained. JICT’s largest shareholders are East Japan Railway Company (53%), West Japan Railway Company (20%), and Toyko Metro Co Ltd (20%). East Japan Railway intends to open a UK office on April 15, and pursue further contracts.
